IBSA at ESHRE 2025 through science and dialogue

IBSA took part in the 41st Annual Meeting of the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE), held in Paris from June 29 to July 2. This scientific event brought together thousands of professionals and experts from around the world to explore the latest advances, challenges and opportunities in the field of reproductive medicine.

IBSA hosted two scientific sessions, which drew strong participation and lively discussions.

SATELLITE SYMPOSIUM

The satellite symposium Progesterone Levels and Beyond, chaired by Juan Velasco (Spain) and Dominique de Ziegler (Cambodia), explored the physiological role and clinical relevance of progesterone levels in Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) – from their impact on endometrial transformation and immunotolerance, to luteal phase support.

Presentations included:

  • The pathophysiology of adenomyosis and endometriosis and the concept of progesterone resistance (Linda Giudice – USA);
  • The role of progesterone in decidualisation and immunotolerance (Peter Humaidan – Denmark)
  • The relationship between progesterone levels and ART outcomes (Elena Labarta – Spain).

COMPANY SESSION

The company session titled Hormonal Synergy in Follicular Development and Ovarian Stimulation focused on the synergistic role of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) isoforms, androgens, and inhibin-B in follicular development.

Moderated by Ernesto Bosch (Spain) and Claus Yding Andersen (Denmark), the session explored physiological interactions during the follicular phase. Paul Pirtea (France) offered a clinical perspective on personalised ovarian stimulation, based on hormonal dynamics.

Recordings of both sessions are available on IBSA Educational Program website, underscoring the company’s commitment to medical education programmes.

SILENT INTERVIEWS & EXPERIENCE CORNER

At the IBSA stand, attendees had the opportunity to explore one of the key messages of IBSA’s approach to ovarian stimulation (Inspired by Nature) through interactive activities.

The stand also hosted three silent interviews with opinion leaders in the field of reproductive medicine:

  • Mauro Cozzolino (Italy) – Scientific Director of IVIRMA Bologna and winner of the IBSA Foundation Fellowship 2017 – emphasised how IBSA Foundation supported his research, as well as the importance of such fellowships for young researchers. Starting from the beginning of his career, Dr. Cozzolino presented the outcomes of his work on adenomyosis in ART.
  • Elena Labarta (Spain) – Specialist in Human Reproduction and Assisted Reproductive Techniques at IVI Valencia – discussed how artificial intelligence is being applied to improve assisted reproductive techniques outcomes, along with future potential applications and ethical implications.
  • Catherine Racowsky (France) – Professor Emerita of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at Harvard Medical School and former Director of the IVF laboratory at Brigham and Women’s Hospital for over 20 years – shared insights on the evolution of embryology within ART, highlighting the pivotal role of embryologists in reproductive success.

LOOKING AHEAD

Through a programme rich in scientific content and activities designed to foster dialogue and in-depth discussion, IBSA showcased its unique approach: combining scientific rigour with inspiration from physiology to drive therapeutic innovation in the reproductive field.

The feedback received confirms that IBSA is on the right path: knowledge, collaboration and expert interaction, to continue shaping the future of reproductive medicine.
