Coppa IBSA 2025: a wave of energy and unity

The third edition of the IBSA Cup – a highly anticipated event for the region and the sailing community and now a regular fixture in the sporting calendar – was held on August 30-31 over Lake Lugano, Switzerland. Fruit of the collaboration between IBSA and the Circolo Velico Lago di Lugano (CVLL), the IBSA Cup welcomed approximately 150 participants on around thirty boats from different sailing classes – from Optimists for the youngest, to ILCA Lasers for experienced sailors, up to the Hansa 303 for people with disabilities. The regatta also saw the participation of athletes from the Associazione Velabili, which IBSA has supported since 2023.

THE VALUES OF SPORT AND A RENEWED COMMITMENT

The 2025 edition provided emotions and satisfaction across two days characterised by ideal weather conditions and great team spirit. A crew of IBSA employees also took part in the regatta, testing themselves in a new and enjoyable experience.

BEYOND THE PROJECT, THE JOURNEY CONTINUES

The IBSA Cup is part of the wider project Sailing into the Future. Together. Born in 2022, this international project is characterised by two elements: on the one hand the sporting feat by ocean sailor Alberto Bona on the Class40 IBSA; on the other, support for sailing clubs and yacht clubs to promote inclusive sailing projects for people with disabilities

Although Alberto Bona’s sporting achievement on the Class40 IBSA was concluded in 2024, the project Sailing into the Future. Together continues its commitment to inclusive sailing Since 2022, IBSA has promoted inclusive sailing activities through donations of adapted boats, collaborations with sailing clubs, and dedicated support programmes in Switzerland, Italy, France, Spain, and the United States.
