Last October 5, IBSA inaugurated its renovated production facility in Lodi, following an expansion project that has involved departments, infrastructure and production lines over the past few years. The overall investment of €13.5 million strengthens the site's role within IBSA's production network and supports its growth in international markets.
Expanding the Lodi Production Site (Italy) to Continue Growing in International Markets
A CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE AT INTERNATIONAL LEVEL
With a surface area of approximately 12,000 sqm, the Lodi facility is now a centre of excellence for the production of finished hyaluronic acid-based products, an area in which IBSA is one of the world's leading companies. The renovated department dedicated to pre-filled syringe formulations completes an expansion process that began in 2022, which will increase production capacity from 6 million to 14 million units per year.
“IBSA's growth has always been driven by its ongoing commitment to scientific and technological innovation. Today, this journey continues with the enhancement of the Lodi facility and its production capacity, serving the Group as a whole. This investment enables us to meet the needs of international markets, including the strategic and highly competitive US market,” said Alessandro Ruggiero, Chief Industrial & Open Innovation Officer and Member of IBSA's Board of Directors.
TECHNOLOGY AND KNOW-HOW: THE VALUE OF THE IBSA SUPPLY CHAIN
This development brings together industrial capabilities, specialist expertise and technological innovation, leveraging a value chain that IBSA controls across all its stages.
Thanks to NAHYCO® Hybrid Technology, a patented technology developed by IBSA, the company is one of the few international players capable of producing ultrapure hyaluronic acid for applications across different therapeutic areas, from osteoarticular treatments to aesthetic medicine and uro-gynaecology.
THINK GLOBALLY, ACT LOCALLY
The inauguration also provided an opportunity to engage with the local community. Representatives of the area's political and economic institutions attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony, highlighting the strong relationship that IBSA has built with the local community over time.
With the expansion of the facility dedicated to the production of hyaluronic acid-based products, IBSA is strengthening one of its centres of industrial excellence and its ability to respond to growing international demand.
The enhancement of the Lodi site therefore marks another step forward in IBSA's growth journey, strengthening its production and technological capabilities and enabling it to turn research and innovation into solutions for patients and healthcare professionals in more than 90 countries.
