IBSA and the Locarno Film Festival together for sustainability

IBSA and the Locarno Film Festival, now in its 74th year, are renewing their partnership for 2021-2022. The focus of this partnership is on environmental sustainability, with innovative projects to reduce waste. IBSA is in fact the Official Climate Action Promoter and supports the establishment of new ecological islands and a communication campaign dedicated to recycling.

Founded in 1946, the Locarno Film Festival was one of the first film festivals in the world, along with those of Venice and Cannes. It is also the biggest Swiss film event and one of the largest in Europe. The soul of the festival is the evening screening on Locarno’s Piazza Grande, a unique and evocative open-air cinema. After the hybrid edition in 2020, from 4 to 14 August 2021, Locarno will once again be the world capital of auteur cinema, this time entirely in-person.

As the Official Climate Action Promoter, IBSA supports the Zero Waste campaign to raise awareness of waste and the importance of recycling. The campaign will be promoted online on the festival’s official website and on its social channels, and offline through the design and creation of information panels, which will be placed on waste bins - including those at recycling points - and in the main event venues.

The collaboration with the Locarno Film Festival” says Silvia Misiti, Head of Corporate Communication & CSR of the IBSA Group, “fits in perfectly with IBSA’s intention to increasingly align itself with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). We care about corporate social responsibility issues, including gender equality, decent work and economic growth, as well as combating climate change. This partnership is a tangible example of our commitment in this area.

As Switzerland’s premier film event, the Locarno Film Festival is of enormous importance for Switzerland and, to an even greater extent, for Ticino. One of the festival’s strong points is its deep connection with its region and the people who live there. By supporting the Locarno Film Festival, IBSA also contributes to helping the local community, promoting the enhancement of the area where its headquarters are located.
