IBSA & Locarno Film Festival 2020 Partnership30 March 2020
For the third consecutive year, IBSA has chosen to partner with Locarno Film Festival, this time for the 73rd edition of the event, which will take place from 5-15 August 2020.
Founded in 1946, the Locarno Film Festival is one of the oldest cinema festivals in the world, together with Venice and Cannes. It is also the most important Swiss cinema event and one of the biggest in Europe. For the 72nd edition, 34 countries were represented and 113 world film premieres were shown. The soul of the event is the evening screening in Piazza Grande, a truly evocative open-air cinema venue. Internationally renowned producers, directors and actors take to the red carpet, giving a touch of cosmopolitan glamour to this major annual event.
With a view to sharing a number of Sustainable Development Goals, including gender equality, the fight against climate change, decent work and economic growth, this renewed partnership for the 2020 edition is a way for IBSA to support the development of projects promoting environmental sustainability. This is an area where the Locarno Film Festival has been working with key stakeholders for years. As part of this focus, IBSA will play an enabling role in the new Zero Waste Campaign, which will take the form of online awareness-raising activities and the creation of new containers for separate waste collection. Information panels will also be placed at the event's main venues. For IBSA, supporting the Festival has huge added benefits in terms of internal communication and company welfare, granting personalised forms of access to the event to employees who so desire.
